Our Raw Life
~ ~ ~

Robert Marra is an active member of the Seibukan Aikido Dojo in Raleigh, NC where he trains under the masterful guidance of Sensei Hiroshi Tajiri. Often deep in contemplation or a good book, Rob has studied the works of many Eastern and Western masters in such arts as consciousness change, dreaming, zen, meditation, psychology, linguistics, and others.
Growing up in a Sicilian family Rob has an instinctive love for family, community, good food, and celebration. He has traveled the long path from the Standard American Diet (SAD) on to the predominately raw living food diet he enjoys today. Once he discovered the miraculous healing, cleansing, and rejuvenating power of raw and living foods a fire was lit inside to spread the word far and wide. Experiencing first hand the benefits of a fresh, organic, living food diet Rob has been on a mission to educate and assist members of the One Human Family on their path to a healthier, happier way of life.

Kelly Marra was born and raised in breezy San Francisco, California. At an early age she learned how to cook, watching her parents create gourmet meals every night while they tested her on her spelling words. Kelly got her first cookbook while in the 1st grade, and shortly after started cooking a dinner for the family every month. Having developed a love for cooking, Kelly spent her summers during high school attending culinary camps and interning at a local catering company/cooking school in Chicago. Kelly was accepted into the Culinary Institute of America when she was 17. This would not be her path, however, and she moved to Raleigh, NC. Shortly after moving she became vegetarian, and began reading food labels, cutting out processed ingredients and additives such as MSG and aspartame from her diet.
It wasn’t until later, when Kelly learned about the raw and living food diet, that everything fell into place. Within a few weeks of beginning the diet, Kelly’s continual year-round sinus problems vanished without the use of any medications.

After being on the raw and living food diet for a short time Kelly and Rob stumbled onto the Alissa Cohen teacher training and things fell into place for both of them to attend. Their path seemed to be paving itself ahead of them. Since returning home, Kelly and Rob have been busy creating gourmet living food dishes, making everything from chocolate chip cookie dough gelato, to eggplant bacon, to bagels, samosas and manicotti. Since then they have also focused their efforts on building the raw and living community in North Carolina through NCRaw.com. Check out the calendar on NCRaw.com for up coming classes, gatherings and events in the Triangle area!
